Profile :
Barun S. Mitra is the founder and director of Liberty Institute, an independent, non-profit, public policy research and advocacy organization, based in New Delhi. He has worked on a range of public policy issues, including climate change, energy, economic development, and environment. He is the recipient of the Julian L. Simon Award 2005 for his contribution to environmental policy debate.

He has been widely published in newspapers and magazines in India and across the world. He is often invited to comment on current affairs on national television channels.

Over the years, he has participated in a number of international events as a NGO delegate, including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), UN’s World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), UN’s Stockholm Convention of Persistent Organic Pollutants, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) ministerial meetings, World Health Organisation, and others.

Prof. Manju Mohan

Profile:
Prof. Manju Mohan is actively engaged in research and teaching in the field of Air Pollution Dispersion Modelling for Air Quality Management and Risk Assessment at IIT Delhi for more than 30 years. During her research career she has worked in the areas related to Air Pollution Meteorology, urban Climatology, Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of power plants and other industries, Coastal and Urban Air Quality Management, Long range transport and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) for chemical and petrochemical industries, etc. Her current research interests are Atmospheric Chemical Modelling of Aerosols, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Urban Climate. Prof. Mohan has been Project coordinator of several sponsored (DST, CSIR, ISRO, AERB etc), consultancy and International cooperative projects (USA, Japan etc.) in the above areas. She is a member Environmental Appraisal Committee (Industry-I) of Ministry of environment and Forests, Govt. of India. She is also a member of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Subject Expert Committee for Technical Evaluation of Proposals of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences for  Women Scientist Scheme (WOS-A). She has also been a member of editorial board of IAAPC journal. She has begged prestigious scholarship, awards and medal. She became Fellow, Institute of Environmental Engineers in 1998. Institution of Engineers (India) awarded her Nawab Zain Yar Jung Bahadur Memorial medal for the best paper in Environmental Sciences.

Prof. K Jaisim

Over fifty years of Architecture and Forty of a legendary practice has traversed and the adventure carries on: Encouraged by Sheila Tribe, his Design Professor at The School of Architecture (Madras), inspired by the likes of Mies Van Der Rohe,Buckminster Fuller, Otto Koenigsberger and Geoffrey Bawa amongst other icons, interned and disciplined under Architect Srikrishna Chitale and spirited away by Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead, Jaisim’s incurable romanticism led to the birth of JAISIM FOUNTAINHEAD in 1970.  Since then Jaisim Fountainhead has created and recreated a spectrum of projects. Jaisim has written over hundreds of papers and articles, made over thousand presentations and serve on several boards and councils, and finds time to interact with students of architecture all over India. His iconoclastic views and individualistic endeavors are the hallmarks of his creativity. Today, he still continues to pursue the adventures of the built and unbuilt environment, searching and researching beyond the boundaries of time and space.  In September 2011 Jaisim received the JK – AYA Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Architecture and the most recent addition to vast accolades is felicitation by CIVIL AID in recognition of his dedicated service to civil engineering fraternity.

Sanjay K. Singh (
sanjay@iiml.ac.in) is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. He formerly was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He has also worked as an Assistant Professor at XLRI Jamshedpur and Member of Faculty at CIRT Pune. He holds a Ph.D. degree in development Studies from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research Mumbai. He is the recipient of the Manas Chatterji Award for Excellence in Research in Regional Science, given by the Regional Science Association - Indian Section. He has published two books and number of research papers in reputed journals. His articles have been published in such journals as IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, Electric Power Systems Research, Applied Soft Computing, Telecommunications Policy, Transport Policy, International Journal of Transport Economics, European Journal of Transport and Infrastructure Research, Journal of Public Transportation, European Transport \ Trasporti Europei, Urban Transport Journal, Economic and Political Weekly, and Productivity. His research interests are in the areas of Transport Economics and Transport Policy, Energy and Environment, Infrastructure, and Industrial Organization and Regulation.
