Sept 29, 2008: A Roundtable on "Property Rights - The Sin in Singur"
Liberty Institute, India Monday, September 22, 2008

Press Release
Tata Nano represents the potential to transform the industrialisation process in India. So too has the Singur land protest the potential to transform politics in the country. Therefore, it is a real pity that these two perspectives are pitted against each other. This apparent paradox can only be resolved, if we scrutinise conflicts similar to the one in Singur, under the lens of property rights. All are invited to this roundtable on Sept. 29, 2008, to discuss the problems of agriculture and its impact on industrialisation, and explore ways of resolving the land disputes, and facilitating economic growth.
