Aug 21: Screening of We the Living, a film based on Ayn Rand's book

A special screening of the film "We The Living" will be conducted on 21st August, Saturday at the NCUI Building in Delhi. The movie is based on Ayn Rand's novel, 'We The Living". It was made without her permission or knowledge in 1942. It was later banned by the Mussolini regime. The film is in Italian, with English subtitles. |

The Fourth International Conference on Climate Change will be held in Chicago, Illinois on May 16-18, 2010. This series of events is hosted by the Heartland Institute, in partnership with many organisations across the world. It will call attention to new scientific research on the causes and consequences of climate change, and to economic analysis of the cost and effectiveness of proposals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The first two conferences were held in New York, and the third one was in Washington DC. |

Empowering India receives Manthan Award 2009

Empowering India, an initiative of the Liberty Institute, and supported by the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung, was among the winners in the e-governance category of the Manthan Awards 2009 for South Asia. The awards seek to recognise innovative digital contents in over a dozen categories. This is the sixth year that the Digital Empowerment Foundation is hosting this event. |

This year the jurors of the Manthan Awards 2009, had to choose eight awardees for the e-governance category from 85 valid nominations. Many of them were quite inspirational. Of the many Bihar-based e-governance projects submitted as nominees this year, the Manthan jury picked Jaankari. Then there was the exemplary project devised by the Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh. Also, in this category of innovative content is Empowering India, writes Osama Manzar in his column in the Mint. |
